Why Ryan’s Letters?

When you write a novel, particularly fiction, you become so invested in your characters. They are your creation. They become like your children. You just want the best for them, and you want people to fall in love with them. I chose to continue the story of Ryan and Larkin because I felt like I owed it to Ryan. I don’t feel that after reading Larkin’s letters, he was done grieving. I feel that finishing her screenplay was just the beginning of his healing process. Ryan needs to continue to grieve in order to reach the final stage of healing. How is he going to grieve? Well, he will grieve through writing letters back to Larkin. And as he writes these letters, they will take him on a journey he never expected. And as I continue to write the story, it is definitely taking me on a journey that I never expected!
